Michaelmas Fair Brings the Community Together for a Fantastic Day of Fun and Celebration
This year’s Michaelmas Fair was a tremendous success, bringing together residents, families and visitors for a day filled with entertainment, activities and community spirit.
The fair offered something for everyone, with a wide range of attractions enjoyed throughout the day. Families took on the inflatable slide and assault course, younger visitors delighted in the teacups ride, and many tried their hand at mini golf and the Shuggy Boats. Visitors also had the opportunity to experience Pickle Ball, one of the fastest-growing sports, which proved to be a popular addition to the day’s activities.
Traditional games including giant Jenga, Connect 4 and bean bag throwing provided plenty of friendly competition, while heritage storytelling sessions gave visitors the chance to learn more about our local history and traditions. The police van was another popular attraction, offering an opportunity for residents, particularly younger attendees, to meet local officers and learn more about their work in the community.
One of the highlights of the day was the Dog Show. The event attracted a wonderful turnout of four-legged competitors and their proud owners, with spectators gathering to cheer them on. Congratulations to all of the winners and a huge thank you to everyone who entered and helped make the competition such an enjoyable part of the fair. Cllr Neve and Cllr Brownlee had great fun judging the entries.
Visitors were able to relax and enjoy refreshments and the licensed bar while taking in the vibrant atmosphere. Throughout the day, the entertainment stage was filled with music from our own Glee Club alongside a fantastic line-up of talented local artists. Their performances kept the crowds entertained and created a lively atmosphere from start to finish.
Events such as the Michaelmas Fair would not be possible without the support and dedication of many individuals and organisations. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Baccanalia, whose hard work, commitment and organisation helped bring this year’s fair together and ensured the event ran smoothly throughout the day.
